Compress an image to a target file size
Upload forms, job portals and email often cap the file size — “under 100KB”, “under 1MB”. Instead of guessing quality, type the size you need and Dropsize hits it automatically, right in your browser.

How it works
Switch to “Target size”, enter a number in KB, and Dropsize re-encodes at different quality levels (a binary search) until it finds the best quality that still fits under your limit. Nothing is uploaded and there’s no cap on the input size.
Tips for small targets
For a very small target (e.g. 20KB), also reduce the dimensions — a smaller image reaches a small file size at higher quality. JPEG and WebP work best; PNG is lossless and can’t be tuned to a size.
Frequently asked questions
Is the output exactly the size I set?
It gets as close as possible while staying under your target — the highest quality that still fits.
Which format is best?
JPEG or WebP. WebP fits more detail into the same kilobytes. PNG can’t target a size.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
